Make sure you download the Merlin firmware, for full MER support (not sure if ASUS ever actually added it) or you won't be able to connect to Sky.
Merlin Direct Download Link v380.61

Yeah will do Lloyd.
After ordering this I have heard bad things about disconnects because of the mediatek chipset ?
As far as I know these are based on Broadcom, but I haven't had any disconnects on my RT-N66, it been rock solid.
It even keeps my IP static for long periods...months (thank god!).
Good, thought I'd wasted my money :S
Are you not on a static ip ?
After some research this thread implies that the modem side is pants :S

No not true, they do versions for all models., note the folder RT-AC68U :)
And Merlin does contribute to ASUS Firmware, work they've done has made it to ASUS release firmware.
EDIT: And yeah, why did you get one with a modem too? You are on fibre I thought?
I wanted one with modem. I am on sky fibre pro. I have set it up and got dsl light and internet light but cannot access web pages :S
Did you get online in the end mate?
Yeah finally !!
Oh good, I didn't see this until this morning.
What was the problem?
Put username and password in wrong lol
Line speed has dropped and pings have doubled :S
Well it has been a painful few weeks with this modem/router. High pings, disconnects and down load speeds all over the place. Turns out the dsl chipset in this is mediatek which is not very good when paired up with ECI fibre cabinets which is what I'm connected to in the street. There are many lengthy posts on various other forums including Asus.
If you are connected to a ECI cabinet these have lantiq (intel) chipsets in them so you are better off trying to find a modem/router that has a lantiq dsl chipset and you will get better speeds and a solid connection. Netgear do one of these, the D7800 it is suppose to be a very good unit. I have managed to buy a second hand one off fleabay so hoping this will be a good buy and will be with me next week.
I'm hoping that I can take the Asus back and get a full refund.
Nightmare mate! Until you get a new one through, connect through the BT Modem and use the ASUS as the router.
Does the Netgear support MER? I'd double check that.
Oh you too :)
Yeah fed up with having to use their equipment for fibre. If I have issues I have to plug their hub back in before calling. Saving money too by getting bt sport with BT fibre.
Just ordered BT Infinity 50Mb with Sport, getting activated on the 10th October!
Have you ordered yours yet?
I received my BT Home Hub 5, I didn't realise it had built in modem so that was a nice surprise!
Just waiting for the line to change so I can connect it and see if I have IPv6 yet :)
Now I'm going to have to pay£90 to get the Business version lol!
All activated, I was going to use the BT Home Hub, version 5 is actually quite nice.
I am currently using the OpenReach Modem and my Asus RT-N66, and have IPv6 enabled too.
Have you moved yet Bully?
Yeah switched over a couple of weeks ago. Was impressed with the new BT smarthub
Has your line speed settled down yet?
Mine hasn't budged, still have the same IP address too :)
I'm getting 55Mbs down and 7Mbs up, I'm going to ring them next week and see if they can give me more upload.
I'd rather have 50 to 55 download and the full 10 upload. We'll see!
I'm still using the BT Modem and the ASUS RT-N66U Router, I'll have to try the next ASUS with built in modem.
I've been testing with the Microsoft Network Speed Test app...
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/stor...t/9wzdncrfhx52
I'm currently getting 44mb download and 12mb upload, and really low pings
Nice mate, yeah my pings are much lower!
