Default Intel Stock Cooler Upgrade - Thoughts?

Hello all, decided to sign up and read up before i take my first overclocking steps lol. Im not looking to go with watercooling but to get as far as i can with fans and heatsinks. Ive stressed my pc and so far all the temps look quite low except for the NB which is hitting 50 degrees max and the south 45 everything else is mid to late thirties. The CPU is always quite low but as im using the original fan/heatsink that came with the chip im looking for something alot better, open to suggestions. Also ive read people are removing the heatpipes and heatsinks from the maximus board and cleaning the underside to remove some of the thermal paste etc to improve cooling on the NB and SB, is this worthwhile doing and is there anything else i do to improve heat loss in that area. Im just trying to get the temps as low as i can before atempting any kind of overclocking.

Case wise im using the Antec 1200 and have filled every fan bay possible. the temps ive written above are on low fan setings which are not to noisy, full power temps drop up to 10 degrees but sounds like an aircraft carrier. Specs below.

From what i hear there are 3 to 4 i would consider, the one that springs to mind is the TRUE, i can't remember the maker or the others of the top of my head, so i'll get back to u shortly.

    Thermalright TRUE....

And the Akasa cooler in another thread sounds good

But when i have to air cool i use a

touch choices, the "true" one looks the best visually but being made of nickel and alluminium the heat conduction cant be as high as the ones made of pure copper. Secondly the "True" one is massive though im sure it will still fit in this case lol. So far though the Zalman you posted does have alot more plus points on paper, would be intresting to see how they all perform against each other on the same rig

Taking a look at some reviews now which seem to be quite comprehensive in the amount of colling options tested

This is the daddy......... in all the tests and reviews it beats all others overall....http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...articleID=2001

Then theres the 2 i have........akasa 965 which is not far behind that thermaltake in temps (Q6600 3.6ghz 1.4375v 72c full load using prime 95). Not bad for around a tenner.
And also theres the tuniq tower 120 which i was gonna get and looks the dogs in your case aswell as being one of the top coolers.
They dont have to be made of purely copper face....as the therms outdoo all the copper made coolers out there ...its all about getn the heat quickly away from the cpu.
Then theres the amandtech coolers which run a small electric current through the base plate. theyre a bit expensive still... but worth considering.
