I recently got the Gainward 4780x2 and am really impressed the temps are a tad high, but can be brought right down with a fan profile, there are some posts on the OCUK forum with people using the EK Waterblock getting 30 idle

Im getting a new graphics card near crimbo and was gonna get a 4870 1gb....as i only have a 22" monitor and wont see any difference with a 4870x2...certainly not to justify the extra wonga.....but now the gtx is a possibility as ive heard theyre gonna drop in price due to the ati cards being so cheap....so 4870 1gb or gtx 280???

IMHO I'd go with the 280GTX, i'm gonna get 280's to upgrade my other 2x rigs - that's when i've finished spending cash on my tj07 rebuild

EDIT: HAHAHA you got ur sig sorted then

tricky one as i have been reading the 4870 1gb is managing to beat the gtx280 in some benchmarks (that works both ways though)... but if u ever wanted to run dual cards then go for the 4870 as ur mobo dont support sli...

The 4870x2 wins hands down...no contest. even the 4850x2 thats due any time soon beats the GTX280 and is gonna be cheaper.
