Will look awesome when it's done.
While you are doing that you should re-seat the heatsink too, I think you can get some EK memory pads from ChilledPC at 0.5mm and 1mm thickness (I'm not sure which size you will need), the chances are that just using TIM will leave a gap. And use some MX on the GPU etc.

After seeing how much my temps decreased just by reseating the original heatsink on my 8800GTS, my GTX 580 is next on my list

Yeah I'll start a thread when I get started
Not sure what would be the best pads, I was just going to use some EK I saw for sale the other day...which I can't find now lol
Maybe the GTX 580 heatsinks will be a tighter fit on the RAM and I/we can just use some MX-x, but I doubt it

If you watch that vid of the guy fitting the waterblock he ditches the EK pads for some other stuff which he reckons is much better, ( high performance) he doesn't say what make it is tho, just that they are sticky on one side?

It is 9 minutes 4 seconds in on video.

With a waterblock I just use MX-x all round as they get fitted/made properly, but to reseat the original is usually different - my 8800GTS for instance once the heatsink was fully installed there was about a 1mm gap between the ram and the heatsink which MX-x simply couldn't bridge, hence the using of pads to bridge the gap, the EK stuff is still better than that crappy white tape several manfacturers use on the GFX memory.
I'll see when I take mine apart

Time to put the plate on now methinks......

The horrible blue pcb board plus dust sucker.

The first problem i had was i needed longer screws according to EK, but luckily my pal worked at a printers and they had some of the same gauge i needed, but when i got them they werent that longer than the originals and the were just flat blade heads which to me looked a bit naff....(i'm a fussy fecker) but i tried them anyway, but as it turned out they were too short....

So a couple of days later i googled my local fixes and fastenings stores and proceded to drive around the north east trying to get some M 2.5x8 screws......after covering about 30 mile in total i gave up as they all said the same that they were far too small.

So for my next step i tried phoning model shops, and on the 6th shop they said they had some but they were 10mm.....so another 14 miles later here we go again but with much nicer looking screws (crossheads) and they fit a treat.

I also put a blue led in and pointed it towards the graphics card but it is like a mirror so i didn't get the desired effect i was after which was to put a blue sheen on the whole backplate.....but it does highlight the GTX 580 engraved bit nicely.
